Apple, the US iPhone makers, is planning a series of subscription bundles that will allow customers to sign in at a lower monthly price for several of the digital services that it offers.
The bundles, named “Apple One” by the company are expected to be launched alongside their new iPhones as early as October, says people familiar with the matter.
According to the sources, the bundles are intended to enable customers to subscribe to more Apple services, which will drive more recurring revenue.
Apple’s services unit, which includes iCloud and Apple Music, has expanded rapidly, introducing more digital offerings to diversify its business at a time when iPhone sales are beginning to stabilize in key geographies.
The company is also working on a new subscription for virtual fitness classes which can be accessed via iPhone, iPad and Apple TV and which will be provided in a higher-end bundle with the rest of its services.
The service will compete with companies providing virtual classes like Peloton Interactive and Nike.
With millions of people opting to exercise at home, there is an increase in demand for fitness apps. Recently Peloton reached 1 million subscribers in May, while Nike said it added 25 million new members across its platforms in the fourth quarter.
Last year, in addition to its existing offerings, Apple unveiled an ambitious video streaming service called Apple TV+, along with its credit card, subscription news app, and video game.
Apple’s share this year has risen nearly 54% and is just $16 away from making the iPhone maker the first publicly listed US firm to reach a $2 trillion market capitalization.
