Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (ACCI) Director-General Mr. Salem Al Suwaidi has discussed means to strengthen bilateral ties with Mr. K Kalimutu, Indian Consul General for Trade and Economy to Dubai.

During the meeting, they discussed various possibilities of increasing commercial and economic cooperation between the UAE, specifically the emirate of Ajman, and India.

The discussion was held at the headquarters of the chamber and it was attended by Mr. Mohammed Ali Al Janahy, Executive Director of the Trade and International Relations Development Sector at the Chamber.

According to the reports, both parties also talked about the investment potential in Ajman, as well as appropriate strategies to boost trade and international investments, and how to encourage the private sector to expand and diversify its investments.

“The UAE and Ajman have strong commercial and economic relations with India, which are growing,” Mr. Al Suwaidi said, emphasizing the chamber’s commitment to providing commercial facilities and services to help promote the two nations’ commercial ties and economic partnerships.

In the first half of 2021, the Ajman Chamber granted a total of 274 certificates of origin for exports from the emirate to India, worth a total of $ 7 million (AED25.9 million), while the total number of certificates of origin for re-exports was 361, worth a total of $11 million (AED41.1 million).

As per the reports, exports were concentrated in the food security business, plastics, iron and steel goods, scaffolding equipment, temporary installation structures, and mining equipment. The chamber’s latest statistics noted that 2,261 Indian companies registered in the emirate in the first half of 2021.

Last month, Ajman Chamber and the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina examined new ways to improve their commercial and economic cooperation.
