ADQ, a leading Abu Dhabi-based investment and holding company, has taken over the management, operation and development of the Abu Dhabi toll system DARB and parking system Mawaqif.

Under the regulatory supervision of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, represented by Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility), ADQ aims to enhance the transportation system.

The transition to ADQ will not affect the operations of these systems that ADQ will ensure the continuity of high-quality services for customers, while the regulatory supervision roles will still be under Abu Dhabi Mobility. In addition to this, DARB and Mawaqif will benefit from ADQ’s transport and logistics portfolio, to accelerate the development of a smart, safe and sustainable transport network in Abu Dhabi.

DARB, launched in 2021, oversees eight toll gates in Abu Dhabi, located at the primary bridges across the city. The toll gate system reduces traffic congestion and encourages the use of public transportation. It was established to transform Abu Dhabi into a globally competitive city through the development of smart mobility infrastructure.

Mawaqif was established in 2009 with an aim to equip motorists with structured public parking facilities in Abu Dhabi. Mawaqif is completely digitalized and provides mobile phone payment as well as integration in the DARB smart application.

This ideally complements our existing assets in the transport and logistics sector, while contributing to the evolution of a smart, safe and sustainable transport network in Abu Dhabi.”

His Excellency Abdulla Al Marzouqi, Director General of the Integrated Transport Centre, commented that, “This step is part of our strategy to enhance partnerships with leading companies, improve the transportation system and develop the sector in Abu Dhabi. ITC will also work with ADQ to boost customer experience and ensure continuity of services.”

ADQ seeks to develop a thriving ecosystem and support the growth of portfolio companies by enhancing their strengths and creating long-term value. ADQ is dedicated to contributing to the diversification of Abu Dhabi’s economy, while improving the quality of people’s lives by ensuring the reliable and efficient delivery of daily essentials such as power, water, transport, food and healthcare.
