The Abu Dhabi Convention and Exhibition Bureau (ADCEB) declared that the UAE capital has improved its position in the rankings of two major organizations.
The International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) and the Union of International Associations (UIA) have announced that the emirate has boosted its position on their ranking list compared to the previous years.
As per the UIA report, Abu Dhabi has been positioned 22nd in the world and 6th in Asia based on being the destination with most number of business events conducted in 2019. The report suggests that compared to the previous year there has been a hike of 68 percent in the number of host events last year. The emirate is also ranked the highest for the most number of events hosted in the MENA region during the year.
On the ICCA ranking list, the emirate improved its position by 41 places in terms of the association meetings held at a destination. It ranked 56th worldwide in terms of the number of delegates attended in the year 2019. It was the strongest year yet for Abu Dhabi in terms of representative participation in conventions held.
“In 2019, we achieved yet another milestone in the business events industry. The new rankings are a true testament of the hard work and effort put into uplifting our destination’s profile within the business events sector.”
Even though the global COVID-19 pandemic has created a dip in the business events sector, currently Abu Dhabi is set for a gradual return, with major events being planned for the near future.
