Qatar and UNDP collaborate to use digital tools to achieve SDGs

The Qatari Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The MoU aimed to leverage technology to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), enhance the use of digital tools to build capacities, and foster comprehensive progress both nationally and globally.

The MoU was signed by HE Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai and HE UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner, on the sidelines of the Doha Forum 2024 themed ‘The Innovation Imperative’.

Additionally, HE the Minister of Communications and Information Technology also met with HE Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhaslan Madiyev.

The meeting discussed strengthening ties between Qatar and Kazakhstan in the ICT sector and exploring opportunities for collaboration in digital infrastructure and innovation.

Moreover, HE Minister Al Mannai met with HE Secretary-General of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) Deemah AlYahya, whereby they discussed enhancing digital cooperation among member states, with a particular emphazis on positioning the Gulf region as a leader in the global digital economy.

Furthermore, His Excellency held a meeting with US Undersecretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Jose Fernandez to explore strategic partnerships between Qatar and the United States, focusing on economic growth, energy, environmental sustainability, and advancing digital innovation.
