Qatar’s leading retail bank, Dukhan Bank has become the first partner in the region to join Mastercard’s global Digital First Card program.
Mastercard’s Digital First Card program is leading the way in the payments industry with a new approach to cards in line with the growth of digital commerce, the proliferation of digital devices, and growing consumer expectations for digital cards.
The program intends to continue driving the payments industry forward by leading a transformation and consumer-mindset shift in how payments can be performed, resulting in better, faster, and more convenient payment experiences.
Through the program, Dukhan Bank is now issuing digital prepaid cards as part of the bank’s efforts to provide seamless digital banking solutions to enhance customers’ experience.
The Digital First Card program provides instant payments and banking services to customers through Dukhan Mobile, including the instant issuance of the new prepaid card and adding to your digital wallet to make payments.
According to the statement, “Customers can also view digital card data and manage a wide range of card features. As a member of the Digital First program, Dukhan Bank will also issue a uniquely designed physical card which is completely numberless on both sides, providing ultimate protection for the theft of personal and financial information.”
Furthermore, the cardholder will be able to use the physical card to make in-store contactless payments. For eCommerce payments, cardholders can use the digital card safely stored and managed within Dukhan Mobile.
Commenting on the launch of the Bank’s new digital prepaid card, Dukhan Bank’s chief marketing and communications officer Mr. Talal Ahmed al-Khaja stated that, “As part of our ongoing partnership with Mastercard, Duhkan Bank is delighted to offer customers a digital prepaid card that is safe, convenient and accepted everywhere. Our customers expect the most advanced banking technology in the market, and introducing this innovative technology adds to Dukhan Bank’s range of advanced payment solutions, which offer an unprecedented digital banking experience.”
Backed by Mastercard, the Dukhan Bank digital and physical prepaid cards are accepted by over 20 million vendors across more than 150 countries.
“This launch comes as a response to the exponential growth in digital commerce and the proliferation of digital devices, meeting consumers’ expectations of seamless, secure payments wherever they may be. We are proud to build on our longstanding partnership with Dukhan Bank to introduce this innovative solution in Qatar for the first time and look forward to many more firsts as we come together to support Qatar’s exceptional digital transformation journey,” commented Mr. Erdem Cakar, country manager (Qatar and Kuwait), Mastercard.
