The 10th edition of the Arab Aviation Summit (AAS) has concluded at the Al Hamra International Exhibition & Conference Centre in Ras Al Khaimah with the participation of regional and international stakeholders in the Arab aviation industry.
The industry leaders called for renewed commitments to reduce emissions and implement decarbonisation strategies for the sustainable growth of the sector.
Held under the theme “Impactful sustainability in modern-day travel and tourism,” the three-day summit brought together some of the best minds in aviation who explored the role of sustainable aviation as a catalyst for driving growth and prioritizing climate action in the Middle East market, one of the fastest-growing aviation markets in the world.
Net zero goals in the industry were at the forefront of panel discussions on the main day of the summit as industry stalwarts highlighted the role of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) and the value of cooperation in strengthening the growth of the sector.
Discussions at the summit further centred on the importance of providing quality training as the region experiences a surge in demand for aviation professionals and to ensure that the next generation of the aviation workforce is work-ready.
Sheikha Mozah bint Marwan Al Maktoum, First Lieutenant Pilot at Dubai Police HQ, made an impassioned call for inclusivity in the aviation industry, stating that a shift in the current narrative could be achieved with increased representation that could further empower young females to identify growth opportunities in the sector.
The experts and thought leaders shared insights on challenges and opportunities and called for greater public-private sector cooperation to transition the sector to a greener future.
Three strategic multi-stakeholder agreements were signed during the event, reinforcing the summit’s growing importance as a platform for facilitating public-private cooperation and opening doors for regional and global partnerships.
