Malaffi, the region’s first Health Information Exchange (HIE) platform and a strategic initiative of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) announced that all public and private hospitals in the emirate are now connected to the platform.
The move is in line with Abu Dhabi’s ongoing efforts to improve patient experience, healthcare quality, and patient outcomes. Further, it is an significant step in allowing healthcare providers to securely exchange important patient health information in real-time, creating a centralized database of unified patient records.
In addition to the 59 hospitals, the platform currently has 1,100 clinics and medical centers connected to it. Over 39,000 doctors, nurses, and other staff members from Abu Dhabi’s 1,539 healthcare facilities now have secure access to Malaffi, allowing them to make more informed and efficient decisions.
Malaffi makes it easier for healthcare professionals to access medical records, saving their time and effort in transferring previous records and avoiding repeat testing. It collates 559 million unique clinical records of medical information such as patient visits, medical conditions, allergies, procedures, lab results, radiology reports, vaccination records, vital signs, and medications.

Since the launch of Malaffi, DoH has supported the development of the platform as it plays a critical role in the digital transformation of healthcare as part of its aim to adopt digital solutions that promote the sector’s advancement in the emirate.
